PE pipes are widely used in the field of water supply and drainage manufacturing due to their high strength, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, non toxicity, and wear resistance. It plays an important role in the field of pipeline transportation.
Some illegal manufacturers in the market are gradually reducing production costs in pursuit of high profits, which seriously affects the product quality of PE pipes, thereby affecting water quality and causing great harm to health and environmental protection.
The quality of PE pipe products mainly depends on three aspects: raw materials, processing equipment, and processing technology. We adhere to the concept of integrity management and quality first here, and from a professional perspective, we will introduce how to select high-quality PE pipes for you.
1. Appearance
The inner and outer walls of pipes produced from high-purity and high-quality PE raw materials are smooth, flat, without defects such as bubbles, depressions, and colorless spots, while inferior products usually have more granular impurities, uneven inner and outer walls, and pockmarks.
2. Milling strip
Milling strip is a strip-shaped PE pipe cut in machine tool processing. High quality PE is not easy to break in the stretching and folding line of sight, with strong toughness and bright cut color. Poor quality products are prone to breakage when folded, are relatively brittle, and have darker colors at the cut.
3. Welding joint
The welding joint mainly reflects the quality of the production process. A good welding joint PE pipe has a smooth and symmetrical flange around the entire circumference, with a wide, solid, smooth, and flat base that can be appropriately elongated. Poor quality products have a large number of air holes on the surface of the flange, uneven edges, and shortened flanges after pressure.
4. Taste
PE pipes produced from high-density and pure raw materials will have a slight plastic aroma, and there will be no odor after being cooled and stored for a period of time. After combustion, the bottom of the flame is light blue, with stable combustion and no odor. Poor quality products will have a strong pungent odor, black smoke and peculiar smell when burned.
5. Elongation at break
The comparison between the product and its original length after stress fracture shows that a product with a length greater than 3.5 times is of high quality
6. Oxidation induction time
This is one of the standard experiments for testing PE pipes in the laboratory, which is the time for automatic catalytic oxidation reaction to occur under high temperature oxygen conditions. The longer the time, the better the product performance.
By visual inspection of color, tactile sensation, and simple small tests, the quality of PE pipe products can also be judged. If strict testing is required, formal laboratory data is needed.
